Scene !!!

Mood:

A woman or maybe a man enters onto a very plain set stage. The curtain is dusty grey almost a terry cloth material mixed with mo-hair.

Waiting at stage right is a black podium with a black stool.
This character holds thyself similar to Jane Birkin, wearing an understated vintage top in Silk and worn fitted denim jeans, styling is in a bit androgynous.

Lighting:

Start in complete flood although dim, a golden hint.
As actor enters from stage left to head towards stage right – begin dimming to fade into a crimson and then violet then black.
-After actors first step – fade golden – raise crimson -in second step with a crossfade to violet on step 3 step 4 black
Repeat this sequence until the actor reaches podium.
Once actor is almost at podium most of stage is black the golden hint remains only illuminating actor begin fade into crimson once actor is seated fade to complete violet then immediate fade to black.
At Black wait 7 seconds –
– spot hard and defined on actor (no Gel).
Actor should be sitting looking in a specific manor.
-Once you notice the actor beginning to look at the audience –
– lower the intensity of the spot – (Add Soft Gel)
Slowly the lighting should rhythmically, dramatically change.
As actor speaks the lighting should “pulse” to a rhythm in the text.
(almost to create a sense of breathing light). VERY SLIGHT
The intensity of the spot should only reach that of when actor first sits down at end of dialogue on “…N”.
Lighting should be very drastic as well as iconoclastic. Please there should be no raping of the eyes.
Once actor reaches last line “IN – APPLE – BOTTOM – TOWN” begin to prepare next sequence:
After “APPLE” begin to raise spot,
at “BOTTOM” slowly remove soft gel (like a camera is gaining focus),
During “TOWN” you will reach full intensity with three more spots coming from the audience by “…N”
Three audience spots are swanky, circling, intermingeling around actor as actor walks off to stage left.
With a “swooping” motion after actor exits stage(think of the spots as your conducting baton and the “swoop” to signal the end)
End of swoop snap to golden flood one two and dissolve to black.

Effects:

During the intense spot after the final violet flood a few strands of smoke should be present as a break in a storm. Not on Actor only high in Spot.

SHE CONTINUES BY SLAPPING ON A FAKE SMILE, RE-WIDENS HER EYES, LOOKING SIDE TO SIDE AND FANCIES OFF STAGE.
